Distillery District, Toronto. This project involved twelve pieces of custom furniture made from reclaimed old-growth Douglas fir from the Toronto Distillery, with glass and metal elements. Artwork by Richard Watts. These pieces are called Earth Skins and are made by layering latex and gauze onto surfaces in the Canadian Shield: rock-faces, trees, old wooden boats and canoes. When back-lit they can be seen as x-rays of the warming earth. Further images can be seen in the "Artworks" gallery and at rawart2.com.
